So I made a bingo board yesterday for the Switch 2 direct happening tomorrow, felt compelled after watching a Techlinked video that said the Switch 1 will totally be used as a Wii U gamepad for the Switch 2 which was my last straw for outlandish predictions so I opted to make a board with only 100% correct predictions instead /s. Anyways listed below are the bingo spaces with a bit of context for each of them.
New IP: A new first party Nintendo IP, this will count the NSO Playtest game if it gets officially revealed since really there's like zero info on what the heck that's really all about as well as having no name.
Movie News: Anything about Nintendo movies, I imagine the most likely news is repeating the Zelda movie release date info from a few days ago.
MyNintendo: Gold points are gone now and vouchers won't work on the Switch 2 so I'm expecting that an announcement about change(s) to the service will be made in the direct.
IP Revival: Surprise revival of a dormant Nintendo IP
New Smash Bros.: New Smash Bros., an "Ultimate Deluxe" would not count.
Themes: seems like an easy crowd pleaser, my main concern is that it'd go against the Switch's current profile-agnostic design, either Nintendo will decide they don't really care about that anymore and do it anyways or the Switch 2 requires the user to sign in first ala Xbox or something to know which theme to use.
C is for Cast: The mystery "C" button on the Switch 2 joy-con stands for "Cast" regardless of the function. Personally I think this is the most likely answer for what it stands for, it's a short enough word to be the same in every language (unlike "Community" or smth) and unlike something like "Chat" wouldn't imply needing an NSO account for access to a hardware feature.
No New NSO Console: this is mainly about Gamecube not coming, Nintendo seems totally fine remastering Gamecube games and with the way the NSO apps work right now it would require setting asides tons of gigabytes of space for a lot of games that you aren't going to be playing all at once, unless the NSO apps change and let you pick and choose which ones to load it'd be a total storage nightmare. DS seems most likely but I'm not counting on it, feels like it'd be awkward at best to implement and unusable on the TV at worst with the Switch's unreliable gyro functions.
$70 Games: New AAA type mainline games for Mario and Zelda and the like will now be $70 (ew). I don't think *every* game is going to be that price though, I think something like Mario Kart is going to be a standard $60 since that's a familiar price to the family audience and is basically the Switch gateway drug for most households lol.
New eShop: New eShop design, doesn't mean it has to be better. (it better be)
Microsoft: Microsoft anything shows up, thinking like a representative or something. Could maybe see Halo MCC show up but I feel like Nintendo wouldn't like that taking the spotlight away from their own titles or something idk, would be cool to play ODST again though.
Mouse Mode: Mouse mode real.
Mario is there: Mario real.
System Voice Chat: System level voice chat, no more stupid NSO app nonsense. My main concern about this is the same thing with themes and that it might be a hard thing to implement without having a sign-in screen first, which is an issue when the console is widely played in handheld mode and would obstruct the pick-up-and-play-ness of the console. Either way this needs to happen pleaseeee.
Nintendo Today: Miyamoto comes out to bust out the phone again (Miyamoto not required, just literally anything to do with Nintendo Today)
I am Wrong: I'm wrong and the Techlinked guy is right and for some reason the Switch 2 lets you use the og Switch as a Wii U gamepad despite tying a major feature of your new console to a piece of hardware from 2017 you're going to stop selling in like 4 years making absolutely zero sense.
Similar Home Menu: The home menu looks just like the original Switch's home menu but with a few extra buttons or something. My rationale is that since the original console was so popular and a direct sequel to it is expected to be inherently derivative the menu might not change much (here's hoping though) to not alienate users upgrading from the first Switch.
$399.99: Console price. I'd gladly be wrong about this if it was cheaper.
"Better with Switch 2": Any talk about Switch 1 games running or looking better on the new console thanks to backwards compatibility, bonus points if these phrase or something like it is said.
Monster Hunter: Anything Monster Hunter shows up, Capcom is directly responsible for the original Switch having 4gb of RAM to play Monster Hunter so they're pretty close I think. Seeing Monster Hunter doesn't seem too far fetched.
New Animal Crossing: New Animal Crossing real, a New Horizons deluxe would not count.
A Skit: Any kind of skit during the direct, this includes something like the Splat Labs segments as well.
"Game Upgrades": Honestly this is the news I'm dreading the most, this counts for any kind of service introduced to enhance existing games paid for (ugh) or otherwise. Seperataly released "enhanced" versions of games don't count but I'll tear my stuffing out at that too, really just hoping it's at least not an additional fee or anything. Bleh.
NSO Playtest Game: The game from the NSO Playtest shows up at all, if it gets officially formally revealed name and all this also counts for New IP.
HAL Labs game: A game by HAL Laboratory is revealed, it's been a while since we've heard from them I think?
