So Mojang is doing a big thing rn testing out the Keep Inventory gamerule being turned on by default in Peaceful and Easy mode.
And like,,, as long as you can turn it off then I don't really see a problem. You can't expect new players to look at the cheats tab and then know what keepInventory is and why they should maybe turn it on. And the good majority of new players are going to be the ones more likely to be starting their first world in Peaceful or Easy mode.
Although I think maybe adding some kind of toggle on the first game over screen when you die in one of the easy modes to turn it off or on like how some newer games handle difficulty modifiers (like idk press Y on the game over screen to toggle while on Easy) could work as well.
over all I am glad it's not being treated like a cheat anymore at least, I think that's honestly one of the things I dislike most about bedrock edition. Personally in my own worlds (on Java) I use keep inventory a lot. I'm very prone to death by slight fall damage and if I'm out exploring I find the rest of position punishment enough,
I think I'd prefer it if XP wasn't preserved since that seems fair to lose. But really it is just universal truth to me that no one really finds losing all your blocks and tools that took hours to grind for to one misjudged jump in the Nether fun. Or well, that's a generalization, I'm sure some do and that's cool, keep inventory is an option for a reason.
Idk I've just been singled out for it before when I've said I use it lol, I've also seen friends quit playing the moment they lose all their stuff too, but then still defend keeping it turned off despite never coming back to that world or server again after the loss. Idk I just think maybe Minecraft's difficulty balancing in general might need some major overhauls and I hope all the very critical feedback from this proposal doesn't scare them off from attempting to change other things as well, the difficulty settings are pretty ancient at this point and I think there's plenty of interesting variables that could be messed around with now for them.
Before hardcore came to Bedrock I was really hoping they'd overhaul the entire mode by doing things like making lava flow faster in the overworld or making creepers have a larger explosion radius or switching up the rare loot tables to maybe eliminate the often memed on Totem of Undying which completely trivializes the entire premise of Hardcore if you set up a raid farm (or something of the sort, I'm not a technical player lol). Sadly they didn't but I hope Mojang can reexamine difficulty modes and mayyyybe put in some of those changes I hope, like maybe insomnia should only be a feature of Hard mode and tougher lmao
